1- When buying household needs, follow the following instructions:


A- Before you buy:
List your family needs before shopping.
Discuss these needs with your family members.
Let your children accompany you during shopping to buy the right and necessary product of high value and quality.
Make sure the products and services you intend to buy will not be over your budget or contradicting with your family income priorities.
Compare the weight, quality and size of the product with its price.
Don’t be in a rash. Shop around and compare prices, especially at sales.
Read the notes written on the product and check the quality and safety of its components.

B- During Shopping
Don’t be emotional with yourself or your family, especially children, when buying products and services.
Don’t buy low quality products and services. Focus on quality, health and safety.
During sales seasons (feasts, Ramadan, back to school), try to buy your needs as early as possible before the crowd.
Request the invoice, keep it, and read carefully contracts and warranties related to the product or service.
Don’t sign a purchase contract before reading it. If it contains blank spaces or ambiguous parts, don't sign it.
Delay buying food products (e.g. fish, chicken and meat) till the end of your shopping to keep them fresh and healthy.
Avoid squandering and excessive expenditure. Focus only on your daily or weekly food needs maximum. Don’t store your food. Storage has harmful effect on quality and safety

2- Before you buy durable goods, pay attention to the following:

Examine the product carefully.
Don’t buy low quality products.
Ask others to recommend you durable goods.
Request for and keep the invoice and warranty.
Read the manufacturer’s user manual. Enquire on product refund and replacement policy.
Check all attributes and performance characteristics of the product and compare them to similar products.
Make sure to read the terms and conditions of the warranty.
Don’t sign a contract with blank spaces or ambiguous parts.
Don’t trust verbal warranties on durable goods. Inform the Consumer Protection Department of any shop giving verbal warranties on its product without warranty certificate.
Make sure the commercial agent or its sub-agent is responsible for providing spare parts to consumers. Check the availability of maintenance center for reasonable price.
Check all attributes and performance characteristics of the product and compare them to similar products.
Try to exactly know the commodity ability or capacity in performing its purpose.
Be aware of the terms and conditions of the warranty.
Make sure to know the maintenance cost in case of breakdown and who should pay this cost.
Don’t hesitate to report against fake products which don't meet standard specifications.
Proper use of products makes them last long.
• In case of a problem in the product or service, call the supplier immediately. Trying to repair the product by yourself may cause the warranty to be cancelled or waiver your right to it.

3- When watching Ads in media or public places:

Beware of misleading ads that include the following:
Misleading extravagances that don’t reflect the real quality and purpose of the product.
Selling transaction is performed through the telephone with no specific location for the company.
Terms and procedures of contracting are different from those mentioned in the advertisement; for example, no after-sales service.
Promoting attractive special offers on low quality products and services.
Promoting false information about products having quality certificates and marks, while there are no approved service centers for them.
Promoting uncertified products that may cause serious harms; examples of these products include: cosmetics, herbs, weight loss medicines…etc.
Offering a service with no clear information regarding its origin, components, production date, expiry date...etc.
Offering a service with no clear information regarding contracting terms, benefits, address location, usage warnings...etc.
Promoting a product or commodity with no clear information regarding its origin, components, production date, expiry date...etc.
The price in the advertisement is different from the actual price you are required to pay.
