In line with the Ministry efforts to monitor prices of foodstuffs and other commodities in order to be able to protect consumers from prices fluctuations through maintaining the purchase power of mid-income individuals, the Ministry has launched a new service, named “Where to go shopping?” This service is an offer of a group of items that considered being the main components of family consumable carte in Qatar. Periodically, on a monthly or weekly basis, the Ministry compares prices levels of these items in different shopping malls. The service main objective is to keep consumers aware of prices in shopping malls that they are used to visit and other shopping malls in Qatar. This plays a pivotal role in raising consumer awareness, in addition to urging consumer to play a proactive role in monitoring prices as well. Consequently, such action will prepare the setting and support competitiveness among shopping malls which is the main objective of the Ministry in this regard.
