Qatar strives hard to adopt real economic, social and political reform. Qatar’s true efforts in this direction are demonstrated in the unanimous approval of Qatar Permanent Constitution through nationwide referendum of 2004. The permanent constitution went into force in 2005 followed by the 1st legislative election to be held in Qatar. Qatar is a member of the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), Arab League and The Group of 77.
