Overview
Under Cabinet Resolution No. (4) of 2001, the National Committee was formed to liaise all issues related to World Trade Organization (WTO). The main objective of the Committee was to liaise between private and public sectors to enable Qatar optimize being a member of WTO in such a manner that contributes to realizing the objectives of Qatar sustainable development.


Brief on the Committee vision and mission
The Committee vision is: “to optimize Qatar membership of WTO through supporting, educating and communicating benefits of the state plans and initiatives to the various economic sectors in such a manner that supports Qatar economy as a whole. The Committee vision is being adopted through a definite clear approach that ensures realizing the highest standard of sustainability, co-ordination and integration among pillars of QNV 2030."


The Committee work plan for the period from 01.04.2010 till 31.03.2011 includes taking the appropriate measures and actions to optimize Qatar businessmen’s benefits of WTO agreement, raise their awareness of their rights under WTO agreement, explain how they can match their positions in a manner that does not contradict the state's obligations, and find appropriate communication channels between the Committee and other government bodies to educate them with the organization issues. The Committee plan also includes monitoring sectoral studies conducted by the Ministry of Business & Trade. These studies are aimed to ensure effective participation in the negotiations and provide technical support required to improve employees’ performance at ministries and other government bodies.
